solaris, ssh, and you

So I was walking down the street one day and rambling homeless man asked me if I could help with capistrano and Solaris install. Being naturally inquisitive, I said yes. If only I had known the traps Solaris had in store!

Ok, so back in reality land it turns out Solaris mounts /usr/bin as a readonly filesystem because it hates you, and in turn also blocks users from setting their own environments by default. After much gnashing of teeth I was able to get it to do my bidding, using the following cobbled together from a variety of internet sources.

sudo vi /etc/sshd_config

And then liberally sprinkle in to taste:

PermitUserEnvironment yes
